Watercolor paintings of your home are an artist's conception of a dwelling. Often watercolor paintings are referred to as simply watercolors because the term painting often implies oils.

For centuries artists have done drawings and paintings of buildings and grand structures. For the most part these have been as back-drops to a major event such as the coronation of a king or High Church celebration where all the attendants are gathered and painted for the sake of posterity. However, in modern times watercolor paintings of buildings have been the child of architects and artists to show how a building or house will look when completed.

For the most part watercolors provided by architects employed the perspective drafting method for creating the drawing of the house and when finished watercolors were applied to give it a finished look. The most popular perspective method is that of the 2-point perspective, which shows all the lined that are perpendicular to the picture plane vanish back to the left or right vanishing point. Generally these renderings were laid out in pencil and then drawn in with ink to be finish in watercolor.

Since the advent of modern suburban living many families have moved away from the city and moved into the suburbs. With this movement builders would sell home in subdivisions and offer a display of models for the potential client to walk through and choose from. Often in the these models were
lovely watercolors of the models. When a family would purchase a home the developer would give their clients a watercolor of their home as a closing
gift. Now it is a common practice for Realtors to give watercolor paintings as closing gifts.
